Testimonials
I so admire Kimm’s determination and vision for mobilizing the work she’s done in various professional capacities, and her preparation in the field of Psychology. I was first introduced to Kimm as a community member whose insight and sense of fairness always spoke to me– a colleague who, at that time, was doing community organizing and youth work. As a writing consultant and professor who who provided consultation around some of her work as a graduate student, it has become clearer to me that she’ll better serve an employee because of her natural curiosity, problem solving skills, response to critique, and her passion for helping others. She has my highest recommendation.

I am honored to write this letter of recommendation for Dr. Kimm Perez, my practicum site supervisor at Hope Clinic in Houston, TX. I have been an intern under Dr. Perez’s supervision since September 2025 while attending Pepperdine University, and my experience has been nothing short of wonderful.

Dr. Perez is an exceptional supervisor who knows how to balance guidance with autonomy. She expertly assists with staffing various cases, teaches a variety of clinical interventions, and ensures that interns develop the core skills needed to become future therapists. She is always accessible, providing thoughtful feedback and on-the-spot training when required. She is also very supportive and understanding, recognizing that as interns we are here to gain the best training possible to become successful therapists. Dr. Perez pushes her interns to grow, encouraging us to expand our knowledge, think critically, and take on new challenges.

Under Dr. Perez’s supervision, I have developed essential skills that every intern should acquire. I have learned how to conduct thorough client assessments, develop effective treatment plans, and apply evidence-based interventions across diverse cases. I have gained confidence in building therapeutic alliances with clients and have learned a great deal by observing and collaborating with my peers. Additionally, I have strengthened my professional communication, ethical decision-making, and reflective practice by consistently receiving and applying feedback to improve my clinical training.

Dr. Perez’s mentorship has been invaluable to my professional growth, and I feel confident that any intern who works with her will benefit tremendously from her expertise, support, and dedication.
